Chapter 94 - Come knocking
A soft pair of hands gently cupped Yunfeng’s trembling palm, squeezing it reassuringly. Hana’s warm eyes sought his. "I’m sure he’ll call... he must be busy."
Yunfeng barely nodded, the weight of her words failing to ease the ache in his chest. With heavy steps, he stumbled up to his room, his head hanging low. Each step felt like dragging chains behind him.
Inside, the air was stifling, the silence oppressive. He slumped onto his bed, staring at the ceiling. "Busy..." he murmured, bitterness seeping into his tone. "Ten days, ten hours, and fifteen minutes. That’s how long he’s been ’busy.’"
The lump in his throat grew unbearable. He wanted to cry, scream, maybe even punch something, but all he managed was a shaky sigh. His stomach twisted painfully, a gnawing sensation that reminded him of his empty fridge and the ban on alcohol in his house.
At least Hana had left him a box of snacks outside his door. He dragged it inside, ripping open a bag of chips with trembling hands. He stuffed a handful into his mouth, the crunching sound filling the suffocating silence.
But the taste turned to ash on his tongue as tears rolled uncontrollably down his face.
"Was I just... a distraction to him?" he whispered, his voice cracking. "How could he not call? Not even once! Days!" He sobbed harder, his chest heaving as he curled into a ball on his bed, crumbs spilling everywhere.
When he reached to wipe his tears, his sweatshirt rolled up slightly, exposing a faint bulge in his lower abdomen. His hand froze.
"What..." Yunfeng sat up straight, his fingers brushing over the small swell. His breath hitched as a wave of dizziness overtook him.
