Chapter 244: Dylan has a fever.
Ava’s tense shoulders relaxed slightly when she saw Justin arrive with the doctor. She quickly stepped aside, giving them space to approach Dylan. The doctor set his bag down and began examining Dylan. Ava stood nearby, her fingers nervously fidgeting with the hem of her sweater.
She turned to Justin and murmured, "Thank you for bringing the doctor so soon."
"Don’t bother. Consider it as a part of my duty. But how did he get wet in the rain?" Justin asked skeptically.
Ava felt her stomach knotting. It was because of her stubbornness Dylan was like this, but her pride wouldn’t let her confess outright. She hesitated, her lips parting to form an explanation, but the doctor’s voice cut through the silence.
"There is nothing to worry about," the doctor said in a reassuring tone, setting his stethoscope aside. "I’ve administered an injection to reduce the fever. Make sure he stays hydrated and gets plenty of rest. Sponge baths will help manage the temperature. And..." He handed Ava the prescription. "He needs to take these medicines regularly for the next five days."
"Thank you, doctor," Ava flashed a grateful smile.
Justin stepped forward. "Let me take that." He gently took the prescription from Ava’s hands. "I’ll get the medicines."
"Thank you, Justin," she said.
"Don’t mention it," he replied, his tone lighter. "Take care of him."
With that, Justin escorted the doctor out of the room. She turned her gaze back to him, her heart aching. She placed a damp cloth on his forehead again.
Dylan blinked wearily and looked up at her.
