Chapter 107: He is innocent.
Dylan struggled, his body tensing, his mind clawing desperately to escape the nightmare’s grip. He groaned again, his limbs twitching as though he were fighting an invisible force. But the nightmare’s hold was unyielding, keeping him trapped in its depths.
In the next scene, he saw Ava lying limp in the pool of blood. "No, no—this can’t be happening!" he cried, dropping to his knees and pulling her into his arms. "You can’t leave me, Ava. Stay with me. Please, stay with me." His tears fell freely. "Nothing will happen to you. I’ll take you to the hospital."
He carried her out of the house and drove straight to the hospital. But the moment he arrived; the crushing blow came.
"I’m sorry," the doctor said gravely. "She didn’t make it."
Dylan staggered backward, his mind refusing to process the words. "No, no...she can’t be dead. She can’t leave me."
The next words pierced him even deeper. "She was pregnant."
Dylan’s world tilted. "Pregnant?" he choked out. "She was pregnant... and yet she... she killed herself." His knees buckled, and he sank to the floor, clutching his head as sobs tore through him. "I forced her – into this. I killed her."
"Wake up for God’s sake."
Suddenly, a violent jolt to his shoulder snapped him out of the spiral. The scene shattered, and he gasped, his lungs heaving as he shot upright in the bed. Tears pooled in the corners of his eyes.
"Thank goodness, you’re finally awake," a voice exclaimed above him, tinged with both relief and exasperation. "I’ve been trying to wake you up for so long!
He moved his eyes to the figure standing by the bed. His blurry vision cleared, and he saw Ava’s face.
