Chapter 457: Reiner - Hectic Life
It was strange but doing things like we usually do like driving to work together and spending time at the office, calmed me down immensely. I wasn’t sure what life would be like after I married Reiner so a part of me was relieved to experience that life didn’t necessarily have to change dramatically.
I wondered if the company had any policies prohibiting spouses from working together but I wasn’t sure whether I should ask or not. It went without saying that I didn’t want to be separated from Reiner even if it was at work. Although it was selfish and very unprofessional of me, I didn’t want to be anyone else’s secretary but his.
“Can you help out with this one too? I’ll send you the file,” Reiner asked with a smile.
“Sure. I’d be happy to,” I replied enthusiastically.
The project that we had been working on together was making smooth progress. One of the main reasons why Reiner probably didn’t want to miss work was because we had an important deadline coming up as part of this project. Next Friday, we were scheduled to present the proposal of our solution and plan to King. Based on what King thought, our project would either go ahead or it would be scrapped completely. Just thinking about it made me feel nervous and a loud sigh escaped my lips.
“Why are you sighing like that?” Reiner asked from where he was seated at his table.
“I’m a little worried about the meeting with King next week...” I admitted honestly.
King seemed like a man that would be hard to please. He probably had very high standards on top of being very strict. What made me the most nervous was the fact that he is now my father-in-law. Needless to say, I’ve never presented any work to my father-in-law before. Although I should have been used to working in a family-run company from my past experiences, this just felt so different.
“You should have more confidence in your work,” Reiner replied, completely unaffected.
“Easy for you to say...” I muttered under my breath.
To Queen’s disappointment and disbelief, Reiner and I continued going to work at the office like we always did. Queen was up bright and early to nag us to go off on a honeymoon every morning before we went to work.
