Chapter 527: When you realize you are the center of global conspiracy
I asked carefully, thinking it might trigger Natha, but he looked...the same; like he didn’t care his kind was involved in this atrocity.
"Why does someone try to harm others?" a reply came from the door as Aunt Nezja walked inside the bedroom. "Of course, it’s due to hatred."
"But..." I looked at Natha again, frowning. "Why would a nightmare hate Natha?"
This time, Natha replied himself, chuckling. "I was the son of a traitor, remember?"
"What?!" I slammed my fist on the breakfast tray before I knew it. "But that’s just something those Spectri bastards use to bully you because they’re afraid you’ll become the Lord!"
"Well...it wasn’t just the Spectri who thought that back then," Natha shrugged.
"What..."
"There are nightmares who didn’t want Natha to rise into prominence," Aunt Nejza said. "Nightmares who had been living submissively beneath the Spectri and didn’t want to see anyone live a better life than them, or nightmares who think they are getting suppressed even more because of Natha’s existence..."
My anger, which had subsided somewhat with the help of a delicious breakfast, flared again. "What’s with that?!" my fist raised and struck a pillow, which Panne had placed strategically after he swiftly secured my half-finished breakfast tray. "Is it his fault that he was born with the seed?! Did he ask to have that?! Huh?! How could they blame him for things he didn’t even want?!"
"But I won’t be able to meet you if I don’t have this--"
"You shut up!" I turned and glared at Natha. Was this a leftover anger, or was my hormone still all over the place? I smacked the pillow again. "This is why you always end up blaming yourself!"
