Chapter 510: Don’t underestimate your fetus; they are smarter than you thought
"Y-you’re leaving me?" I looked at Aunt Nezja with widened eyes. "W-why?"
Why? We were having a jolly good time, weren’t we? Or was it just me? Did...did she actually feel annoyed facing all of my tantrums? She was, wasn’t she? I was so annoying for everyone, but once it was good, I only focused on Natha and--
"Sush," Aunt Nezja held my chin and looked at me sternly as if she could hear my thoughts. I felt Natha’s hand on mine and only then did I realize I was trembling and on the verge of crying. "Whatever is in your pretty little head, it’s not that."
"...’s not?" I replied dumbly.
"I’m not leaving exactly," her gaze and voice turned softer; she stroked my cheek briefly before retreating her hand and turning his head. "I’m just thinking of retreating to somewhere more...quiet."
I followed her gaze and--oh!
"The Lair?" I perked up, feeling a soothing spring doused my heart. If it was just that far...
She nodded. "It’s not that I don’t want to accompany you any longer. I just need a little break."
I gasped. Oh--how could I forget that Aunt Nezja did not like being in a place with a lot of people? Even if she spent her time in the Quarter, there were still servants and staff walking around. As an elder Nightmare, she must be able to feel all of their presence, even if she was just staying still.
"I’m...I’m sorry!" I buried my face in my palm. "I should have been more considerate..."
"It’s not your fault, sweety," she knocked the back of my hand lightly until I lifted my face. "If anything, it’s his fault."
