Chapter 469: There’s a plus and minus of having an older partner
After spending the night talking about Shwa, I got a bit homesick for missing my children back home and cried a bit before sleeping. That didn’t make me want to go back the next day, though.
Not with the blue sky and warm sunlight showering me as I lay on the patio listening to the sound of trickling water and chirping birds while my husband cooked me some breakfast. Nuh-uh. I’d stay for a bit longer in this quiet paradise.
"Isn’t it funny? We’ve been here for five days, but this is the first time we enjoy the morning scenery..." I giggled while looking at the swaying leaves above me.
"Sorry about that," Natha’s reply came with a waft of sweetness coming from the plates in his hand.
"I didn’t blame you," I raised my upper body so I could sit and receive the plate, which got me gasping. "You made a pancake!"
Might sound dramatic, but there was no pancake in Demon Realm’s breakfast--especially the one with a drizzle of syrup. Sweets for breakfast? Nuh-uh--not in Natha’s watch. The only sweets he allowed during breakfast came from the fruit. Huff--this old-fashioned Demon.
But what is this? What. Iz. Deez??
"Tried to make it with egg whites," he said, generously putting a small pot of fragrant syrup in my hand. Wow...even allowing me to put as much as I wanted? I see that he still felt guilty even now.
Well--I wouldn’t say no to this.
I drizzled the syrup on top of the thick, fluffy pancakes before he could change his mind. For the same reason, I immediately took a bite of it. My eyes widened as if I had just gulped a tankard of coffee, and I looked at Natha with sparkling eyes.
It was sooo good! So soft and fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. I had no idea what kind of syrup it was, but it smelt so good--like flowers and fruits.
