Chapter 463: consummating your marriage is not merely physical
This teleportation took more time than usual. It was at least five seconds, I think? Meaning the distance was really, really far. I didn’t think it took this long when he brought me from Lenaar to the Lair.
But I understood why; he did say we would go to an island. An island where there would be only the two of us there. I heard that during my seclusion period, he distracted himself from the stress of not seeing me by going to the island and preparing the place we would stay in during our...ahem--honeymoon. I wonder what kind of place it--
"Oh..."
My eyes fluttered the moment his wings retreated. In front of me was a cabin--a log cabin. It wasn’t big or fancy; in fact, it looked so ordinary that I would have a hard time believing Natha would stay in this kind of place any other time. It was small enough, and probably only consisted of a bedroom with a bath chamber, living room, and a kitchen.
Without looking closer, it would look like a random cabin in the middle of the woods that an explorer might use to rest in the middle of their adventure. But once I focused more, there were a lot of formation runes carved all over the cabin; preservation, protection, detection, warning system, temperature and humidity control, even mundane--but most important--things like bug repellant array.
And yes, as you might guess, it was in the middle of the woods. There was a canopy of tree foliage above the roof and wildflowers surrounded the cabin. The front porch of the cabin was well maintained, with a swing hanging from the ceiling. The front yard was decorated with a white gravel path as well as various shrubs of berries.
Oh, it was wonderful! But what made me inhale sharply was the patio attached to the side, which connected to the living room. I wasn’t sure if I should call it a patio or a pier, because I could jump right into a river from there.
Uh-huh; the cabin was also a riverside one. I couldn’t see it from here, but I could hear the sound of a waterfall from somewhere, deeper in the woods.
"Oh, Mother..."
I grasped my chest and exclaimed in awe. Oh, it was exactly like my dream. A simple place enough for two people to have fun and know each other more, surrounded by nothing but nature.
"Nat...it looks wonderful!" I turned to look at Natha. Even without looking in the mirror, I knew my eyes were sparkling at that moment.
