Chapter 420: Wedding business is preparation for war
Have you ever been involved in wedding preparation? If I had to offer my honest opinion, I would not recommend such an activity.
Not the wedding--I was very much down to it. But the preparation.
Especially not when your partner was one of the most important people in the whole region. No...the whole world?
I mean...I wasn’t even doing much, just fitting for outfits and being there, basically, but I already felt exhausted from Lesta’s deliberation about the preparation they all had to make for this event. What would become of me if I had to do everything by myself?
Although...well, if it was just me, I would just ask for a simple ceremony with friends and family and that would be it.
Alas. My fiance happened to be the candidate for the Demon King.
Meaning; it would be an inter-realm event.
Meaning; that even a matter of invitation was so complicated I felt like Lesta had been explaining war strategy rather than a list of invitees.
Do you know why we had more than one reception banquet? Because not everyone in this world was getting along with each other. Some demon clans despise each other, some Lords bore hostilities. There were those who couldn’t stand to be in the same room with other races. This resentment and bad blood were not to the point of risking war, but a fight might break out with the influence of alcohol and whatnot.
And so, Lesta had to make sure people who came to the banquet did not have a conflict of interest with the others. This grouping resulted in us having more than one reception banquet. And with different days, a different invitation card would be sent.
Even with this, there was a timing to be considered. There were tiers of invitees based on their importance to us, and the degree of our relationship with them. The timing of when the invitation arrived at their residence showed these tiers. There would be talks during tea time and soirees about who already received the invitation and who hadn’t, and it would reveal their standing amongst society--and thus should be handled with care.
