The Demon Lord's Bride (BL)

Chapter 99: When your boyfriend lived just a minute away

It was just a few days...I knew it was just a few days, but I felt excited beyond measure. And it wasn’t even because of the teleportation portal--the staple fantasy setting that I had never tried before.

It was because I remembered what Natha said; that we would be able to meet when the portal was done.

As I impatiently waited for the elevator door to open, I could feel the vibration of the mana from the elemental birds that supplied the portal’s energy. Yep--rather than using expensive mana crystal as fuel, the portal would use the elemental birds’ magic energy. Very cost-effective, I must say.

This smooth whirring sound meant the workers had started to activate the portal, and I couldn’t stop fidgeting. Was this how it would feel to go to your lover’s home?

I mean...yes, I knew I was already in his home, but...it just felt different, you know? Most often, Natha would suddenly appear behind me, beside me, in front of me--just so suddenly popping out from thin air. But now, it was like I purposefully walked to his door, and it just felt...like we were about to go on a date. This thumping of the heart, this flustered feeling, these fingers that couldn’t stop fidgeting...

It was only a few floors up, but the elevator seemed to take forever. I knew Angwi was watching me in intrigue, and Jade had been giving me an unamused side-eye, but I could care less. The moment the elevator door pinged open, I almost stumbled from the over-excitement.

And it was as well that the portal was swirling, glowing with iridescent light, showing me a tear in dimensional space at the same time as I stepped out. I could see a black boot stepping into the platform from the other side, and then the whole body. The moment those gorgeous horns crossed over, I held my breath until I could see the entirety of his figure.

Natha stopped in front of the portal, looking over the whole platform and device. He moved his hands, clenching and unclenching his fists as if testing for side effects, before nodding in satisfaction. At last, the silver eyes trained on me, who was stupidly frozen below the platform.

"Do I get a welcoming hug?" he tilted his head, smiling charmingly with resplendent light from the glowing portal shining around him majestically, arms stretched on both sides.

I took a deep breath and stepped forward, only to have someone grab me from the back and tackled me from the front, restraining me and preventing my body to come closer.

"No!" I heard Zia’s voice behind my ear and Jade’s aggressive chirping from my chest. "You’re not taking him back! He’s only here for a few days!"
