Chapter 91: Familiar Energy
"What are you doing?" Soleia asked woodenly, not daring to breathe at the sudden addition to her bed. This was her private space, and Orion had intruded without a single word of greeting. "Get out."
"Not until you tell me what has been going on," Orion said, wrapping his arms around her body. She felt warmth flooding into her against her will. Orion’s very presence seemed to heat up the tiny enclave underneath the blanket.
"I do not understand," he said, though his voice was noticeably much softer than it was before, tinged with the patience he did not have ever since Elowyn’s necklace had been disposed of. "Where is Elowyn?"
Soleia pushed him away, but it was ineffective. She could only lie there in the dark stony silence, determined to ignore his very presence. He was an unwanted and unnecessary human heater. She would rather freeze to death than leech off his warmth. However, her traitorous body was slowly getting more relaxed and sleepy in his presence, as though his heat was melting her icy defensiveness.
She felt her eyelids starting to close. Then Orion opened his big mouth, jolting her from her slumber.
"Don’t sleep! You have to answer my questions first." He squeezed her waist, and she hissed in anger. "Where is Elowyn?"
His sheer audacity woke her up.
"How would I know where your mistress went? Maybe she got tired of your insufferable behavior and decided to leave you!"
"Elowyn would never leave me without a good reason," Orion shot back, his eyes seemingly glowing luminous under her blanket. "Did you or your father do something to her?"
