Chapter 67: An Unhinged Monster
Elowyn let out a loud gasp as Orion’s arm fell limply to his side. He had sunk down on his knees with a grim thud. The blood needles that had dug under his skin were causing him to feel dizzy. He closed his eyes, desperately trying to stop the pounding in his head. His limbs were beginning to feel heavy.
"Orion!" Elowyn cried out, for once, actually, truly panicked. She tried to pull him up by the arm, but it was equivalent to pushing a boulder uphill. Orion didn’t budge a single inch!
In fact, it didn’t seem like he had heard her at all.
Rafael gracefully fell to the floor, wiping the blood from his nose as he stared down at Orion’s form. From this angle, Orion looked less like a feared angel, and more like a thornhound on the verge of death. A sardonic smile crossed Rafael’s face.
How the tables have turned.
"You... You monster! What did you do to him?" Elowyn hissed out.
"Nothing less than what you did to him. You poisoned his mind, I incapacitated his body," Rafael said easily, using his powers to straighten his nose. His septum popped back into place, and he winced at the pain. He wasn’t going to bother making things painless for himself.
He blew out another wad of blood, gratified that it landed on Elowyn’s pale hair.
Rafael had enough stolen medical knowledge through his years as a mistreated bastard prince, desperate to claw out a living for himself any way he knew how. There was no text too taboo for him to read, no knowledge too arcane for him to learn.
