"If it isn’t Remillia and Caleo," Christian smirked. "The two of you are completely surrounded."
In an instant, Pierre aimed his bow and pointed his arrows directly at us. "He’s holding too many artifacts!" he exclaimed, clearly agitated by our possession of the objects.
A voice from their group chimed in, anxiously, "We must retrieve the artifacts from them before they could submit it to their extraction point."
Panic rose in my chest. I leaned closer to Kairos, whispering urgently, "I know you’re still injured, but you need to run. I’ll delay them as long as I can."
Kairos hesitated, glancing back at the approaching enemies. "I’ll make sure to be back!" he called over his shoulder as he sprinted away.
"Stop him! He’s escaping!" Ezekiel shouted, his voice slicing through the tension.
Pierre quickly released an arrow towards Kairos but I quickly threw a dagger to deflect the direction of the arrow, hitting one of them on the knee.
"Sh!t!" he hissed, collapsing as he pulled the arrow from his wound.
The other three wanted to chase after Kairos but Christian quickly commanded, "Don’t bother chasing him. We must eliminate Remillia now."
Pierre nodded, his eyes narrowing. "She’ll be a pain in the ass later if she manages to escape."
Feigning innocence, I regarded Ezekiel with big, pleading eyes. "Don’t you think that’s unfair for me?" Surely, as a member of the same squad, he would help me right?
