Chapter 76
As Remillia stood her ground, the Skarvok’s eyes locked onto her with an unblinking gaze. The air was thick with tension as the creature continued to circle around her, its tail twitching back and forth like a metronome. Remillia’s fingers tightened around the hilts of her daggers, her mind racing with strategies for taking down the beast.
The Skarvok’s eyes seemed to bore into Remillia’s very soul, as if sizing her up for the kill. Its growl grew louder, a low rumble that vibrated through the air and made Remillia’s heart pound in her chest. She could feel the weight of its gaze upon her, heavy as a physical force.
Suddenly, the Skarvok darted in close, its claws swiping out in a blur of speed. Remillia dodged to the side, avoiding the attack by mere inches. She struck back with one of her daggers, aiming for the Skarvok’s ear - its left ear, specifically. The blade bit deep into the ear’s tender flesh, and the Skarvok let out a pained yelp as it recoiled in surprise.
The Skarvok’s momentum carried it backward, giving Remillia an opening to strike again. She took advantage of it, striking twice more at the wounded ear before backing off to assess the damage. The Skarvok stumbled forward, its vision clearly affected by the attack on its sensitive ear.
Remillia took advantage of the Skarvok’s momentary disorientation and struck again, aiming for its chest cavity. The blade sliced through the air with a swift, deadly precision, and bit deep into the Skarvok’s fur-covered chest. The creature’s eyes widened in shock as it stumbled backward, its claws scrabbling against the ground as it struggled to maintain its footing.
The Skarvok’s howl echoed through the forest, a chilling sound that sent shivers down Remillia’s spine. She knew she had to end this fight quickly, before the creature recovered from her attacks. She struck again and again, each blow landing with precision and force, aimed at the Skarvok’s chest and stomach.
The Skarvok stumbled back and forth, its movements becoming more labored as it struggled to defend itself against Remillia’s relentless assault. Its tail thrashed wildly, knocking over nearby trees and sending branches crashing to the ground.
As the Skarvok stumbled closer to exhaustion, Remillia sensed her chance. She struck one final time, aiming for the Skarvok’s heart. The blade bit deep, and the creature let out a final, defeated roar before collapsing to the ground with a thud.
Remillia stood panting, her chest heaving with exertion as she surveyed the aftermath of the battle. The Skarvok lay motionless at her feet, its once-sharp claws now limp and still.
’Well, that was quick.’
She looked at the time. Seven minutes have passed, she still has time to help the others. She quickly ran hoping that she could bump into one of them when suddenly the ground beneath her feet started to tremble, ever so slightly. At first, it was almost imperceptible, but soon it grew stronger, causing her to stumble and loose her footing.
