Chapter 43
The morning sun filtered softly through the window as I stretched, feeling the stiffness of yesterday’s exertion melt away. I got out of bed and began my morning exercises and just as I settled into a rhythm, my smart watch beeped insistently.
I glanced at the screen, heart skipping a beat. It was a message from Cypher.
{Hey, Remi! Good morning! I just wanted to check if you’re feeling fine,} the message read.
It was a little strange for Cypher to reach out so early, especially without any apparent reason. I hesitated for a moment, then quickly typed my reply.
"Morning! I’m already fine now, thanks for asking," I hit send and continued my exercise as I waited for his response.
A few minutes later, my screen lit up again with Cypher’s message.
{Ah, that’s great to hear! I’m glad you’re feeling better. I was thinking about meeting up with you later today, I need to tell you something.}
I raised an eyebrow, feeling a mix of curiosity and wariness. ’Now he’s getting weirder,’ I thought, frowning slightly.
Suddenly, the system chimed in unexpectedly.
[Who knows, maybe he’s taken a liking to you,] it suggested with a hint of mischief.
I rolled my eyes internally. ’Not gonna happen,’ I responded.
