Chapter 41
The wall finally crashed down, revealing a surprisingly cute, big-eyed Snookum.
The group went silent, their eyes darting back and forth between me and the Snookum, uncertainty etched on their faces.
Then, Vaughn burst out laughing, pointing at the monster. "Ahahaha! This? This is the monster you’re so afraid of?"
He approached the creature, his bravado on full display as he gestured with both hands. "Ahahaha! This? This is the monster you’re afraid of?"
"Vaughn! I suggest you come back here right now!" I shouted angrily, frustration boiling over. ’Why won’t this idiot ever listen?’
"No!" Vaughn shouted back defiantly. "I mean, what are you so afraid of? You even said that they’re only novice ranked!"
He continued to approach the cute monster, his hands extending as if to pet it. "Awww! What a cute little thing you are! Come to pa—"
Before he could finish, the Snookum immediately pounced on him, sinking its sharp teeth into his nose.
"AAAAAHHHHHK!!!" Vaughn screamed, stumbling backward as he clutched his face. He fell to the ground, flailing and frantically trying to pry the creature off.
"GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF ME! IT HURTS!" he yelled, flailing his arms wildly.
I let out a deep sigh, frustration evident in my expression. Without hesitation, I drew my dagger and swiftly threw it at the tiny creature. The blade pierced through the Snookum’s body, dropping it to the ground with a soft thud. However, the monster’s head remained firmly clinging to Vaughn’s nose, twitching and squeaking.
