Chapter 482: One Problem Solved
Upon seeing their predicament, the little people reacted differently—some fought back defiantly, some stood frozen in confusion, some continued hurling insults, while others pleaded for mercy. But Lady Calico now acted as if she couldn’t understand them.
She merely stood outside the small doorway, blocking their escape, her face wearing that typical unreadable cat expression.
At times, she would lower her head to peer at them, sniffing curiously. At times, she would reach out a paw, gently patting them, as if carefully testing their texture.
And at times, she would turn her head away, pretending to look elsewhere—as if giving them a chance to flee toward another doorway.
"Lady Calico, stop playing with them—they’re not mice."
From the bed, Song You looked down at the tiny figures and said, "If you answer two of my questions, I’ll let you go."
"Dream on, you wicked demon! You’ve killed so many of our brothers and sisters—we won’t rest until we’ve taken revenge! Just you wait!"
"W-what questions?"
"How can we trust you?"
"Will you really let us go if we answer?"
