Chapter 246: Secretly in love with the rainy poem? Better than siblings!
In the early morning, when Qin Nuo woke up, the sky was just beginning to lighten, and the clock had just struck half-past six.
After a simple wash, he walked out to the living room, and Qin Yushi was just getting up, wearing her pink piglet pajamas.
She looked at Qin Nuo with some surprise, "Why are you up so early? Did you not sleep well last night?"
"It was alright. Six hours of sleep is enough for me," Qin Nuo said, rubbing his slightly sore eyes.
"Then sit for a while. I'll go out and buy some breakfast. I'll be back soon," Qin Yushi said, grabbing a basket and hurriedly leaving the room.
The breakfast Qin Yushi brought back was all Qin Nuo's favorites. The soy milk even had some oatmeal she added herself, flavors she knew he liked.
Though this was just a task of playing along, there was no doubt that Qin Yushi was the person who understood Qin Nuo best in the real world.
"After lunch, I'll take you for a check-up. It's a simple process, and you'll get the health report," Qin Yushi said, tying on an apron.
"How's the report coming along?" Qin Nuo asked.
"The results seem to be out. I'm waiting too," Qin Yushi replied. Qin Nuo didn't ask further and continued reading the book in his hand. Qin Yushi noticed the book's content and smiled, "Since when did you start enjoying books about psychological crimes?"
"I remember you used to dislike these kinds of books."
"I don't know either. The horror game made me discover a lot of interesting things."
"I'm also puzzled about why I didn't find these books so fascinating before," Qin Nuo said, flipping through the book.
Qin Yushi hesitated to speak and returned to the kitchen.
After lunch, Qin Yushi asked Qin Nuo to change clothes and get ready to go out. When he reached the wardrobe, all the clothes had been washed and neatly organized.
Qin Nuo casually picked a set, went downstairs, and saw a black Highlander parked there. The driver was a man in a suit and sunglasses.
"Get in," Qin Yushi opened the car door.
"Why does this feel like a kidnapping?" Qin Nuo joked as he got into the car. The vehicle quickly moved, and about ten minutes later, they arrived at a private clinic.
It looked ordinary, with several elderly women sitting inside. Qin Nuo turned to Qin Yushi, who had just gotten out of the car, "Is this the team your organization arranged to check my health?"
Qin Yushi just nodded and walked inside.
After sitting in the waiting area for a while, a middle-aged man in a white coat came out, greeted Qin Nuo with a smile, and took him for some routine check-ups.
A young nurse with a ponytail, wearing a mask and glasses, looked quite pretty but seemed cold.
She took out two tubes and said, "I need two drops of your blood."
"Why two drops?"
"One is yours, and one is from your right hand."
The Blood-Eyed Ghost was naturally displeased, "They want my blood? These humans seem to treat me like a guinea pig."
But out of respect for Qin Nuo, it complied, drawing a drop of pitch-black blood from the right hand.
The nurse took the blood sample and left, telling Qin Nuo to wait outside.
Qin Nuo had no intention of sitting down. The strong smell of alcohol made him uncomfortable.
Qin Yushi seemed to have something to do as well, instructed him not to wander, and left to attend to her tasks.
With his hands in his pockets, Qin Nuo walked out of the clinic. When he went to the supermarket to buy a bottle of mineral water, he glanced back casually and took the water without paying much attention.
A shadowy figure was stealthily following Qin Nuo, observing him from the shadows. When Qin Nuo stopped, the figure panicked and hid clumsily.
Such a tracking method could be noticed by anyone who wasn't a fool.
Qin Nuo took a sip of water, placed the half-full bottle on a fire hydrant, and turned into a small alley.
The person hurriedly followed, but upon entering the alley, found it was a dead end, empty.
"Hey, where did he go? I clearly saw him come in here!"
The person scratched his head, looking puzzled.
Qin Nuo dropped down silently from above, standing behind him, and asked, "Are you looking for me?"
The person was startled. Just as he turned around, a fruit knife was pressed against his abdomen, scaring him pale.
"Wait, wait, brother, why the knife? It's a misunderstanding!"
The fruit knife almost scared his soul out of him. How timid could this person be?
Qin Nuo thought, if this guy were transported into the Horror World, he'd be the first to die from fright.
Seeing him almost on the verge of kneeling and begging for mercy, Qin Nuo put away the knife and asked calmly, "Why are you following me? Which guild are you from?"
"I'm curious which guild is so foolish to send you to follow me."
The only reason Qin Nuo could think of for being followed was the guilds coveting him.
"No, I'm following you on my own," the person, who looked quite handsome and well-dressed, replied, though his extreme timidity severely undermined his charm.
"Why?"
"You're Qin Yushi's brother, right?"
Qin Nuo looked puzzled, "And then?"
"Well... it's like this. I'm your sister's college classmate, and I've always, uh... had a crush on her. But I'm too timid to muster the courage to confess, so... I thought maybe you could introduce me to her."
This person was not only timid but also stuttered when talking about important things, taking ages to finish a sentence.
"Why should I believe you?"
"It's true... your sister... at Ruzhou Media University, I'm... I'm a student there, in the same year as your sister."
Listening to him was like having phlegm stuck in your throat, unable to cough it out, quite unbearable.
But he did get it right.
Thinking about it, someone so clumsy and nearly scared to death by a knife couldn't possibly be from a guild.
"Though it might be discouraging, I still want to say, maybe you should go back, practice speaking smoothly, and then see if there's a chance?"
Qin Nuo patted his shoulder, returned to the alley entrance, picked up the water bottle on the fire hydrant, and walked away.
The person, however, didn't give up and followed Qin Nuo silently.
Qin Nuo stopped, turned, and stared at him.
He chuckled awkwardly and said earnestly, "Help... help me out. Maybe one day, I'll be your brother-in-law?"
Qin Nuo was a bit taken aback.
This guy was timid as a mouse but had the audacity to speak so boldly!
"I don't think my sister is blind. Your fantasy won't come true."
Qin Nuo felt a bit annoyed and didn't want to waste time on such trivial matters.
The person still didn't give up, following again, seemingly gathering great courage, "Then take me to your sister. I'll... I'll ask her myself!"
"I'm afraid you'll stutter yourself mute," Qin Nuo rolled his eyes.
"I've always wanted to try changing myself. They all mock me for being cowardly, timid, and tongue-tied when talking to girls. My mom told me that without taking the first step, no matter how much you prepare or how determined you are, it's all in vain."
"So, I want to start with my first confession. Even if I'm rejected, I can at least tell my mom I took that step!"
When saying these words, the young man didn't stutter.
Hearing his words, Qin Nuo blinked, somewhat moved, and said, "Then follow me to my sister. I'll watch."
The young man seemed very excited and quickly followed.
They chatted briefly on the way, and Qin Nuo checked the time as they returned to the clinic.
As they entered, Qin Yushi was just coming out, holding a report, smiling, "Everything about you is normal. This is a reassurance."
Qin Nuo flipped through the report, recalling waking up in the middle of the night, and murmured, "I hope this is a reassurance..."
Handing the report back to Qin Yushi, Qin Nuo stretched and said, "So I don't need to cooperate with anything else, right? I'll head back then."
Turning, he saw the young man hiding outside the door and said to Qin Yushi, "I ran into someone on the way who claims to be your classmate. He seems to have a crush on you and insisted on coming to see you."
Then, he called out to the door, "Your brave first step?"
The young man walked in, looking extremely shy, with his head down, his face as red as a tomato.
Qin Yushi was stunned to see him, "Why are you here?"
The young man approached, head down, and mustered the courage to say, "Yushi, please... please go out with me!"
Watching this scene, Qin Nuo was intrigued, becoming a spectator.
Not receiving a response, the young man looked up at her and continued earnestly, "Yushi, since the start of school, I've... I've had a crush on you. At that time, I felt like there was light in my dark world for the first time."
"It was that light that guided me, giving my life meaning for the first time, and for the first time, I found a goal in life."
"If possible, I hope... hope you can continue to be that light in my life, guiding me. Can you?"
Though he still stuttered, the young man's voice grew louder.
He closed his eyes, bowed his head, sweat beading on his forehead, nervously awaiting a response.
Qin Nuo watched with great interest.
This kid seemed to have put in the effort!
That wave of cheesy lines gave him goosebumps.
But Qin Yushi's face turned darker.
It was the first time Qin Nuo saw her looking so thunderstruck.
But the following conversation made him feel something was off.
"Have you had enough of your act?" Qin Yushi said coldly.
The young man looked confused, "Is your answer a rejection?"
"Not surprising, I didn't have much hope anyway. After all, you're so outstanding and beautiful. To me, it's like a toad wanting to eat swan meat!"
Qin Yushi's face darkened further, and she suddenly lifted a foot, kicking at his head.
The heel of her high heel aimed directly at the young man's eye!
The young man stepped back, looking flustered.
"Yushi, calm down. If my public confession embarrassed you, I apologize!"
Qin Yushi, seeing his expression, grew even angrier, "You better not test my patience."
An invisible aura suddenly emanated from Qin Yushi.
Sensing this aura, the young man laughed, "Alright, alright, just joking. Don't take it too seriously. With that attitude, you'll never get married!"
"I know exactly what you're thinking."
"Stop courting death and apologize to my brother," Qin Yushi's icy gaze was like a blade.
The young man scratched his head, muttering, "I helped you a lot, and not a word of thanks, just that scary look!"
Then he turned to Qin Nuo, extending his hand, "I told you we'd meet again."
"Let me reintroduce myself. I'm Yu Shi."
"In the Horror World, I have another name, Shi Yu!"
Now it was Qin Nuo's turn to look dark.
"So, all that was your act?"
"How was it? Not bad, right? Playing in instances really benefited me. I've dreamed of being an actor since childhood, but it never worked out. I didn't expect my acting skills to be honed in the horror game!"
"How would you rate my performance? Little Phantom?"
Qin Nuo said coldly, "I should have stabbed you with that knife earlier!"
"Tsk, you two are really alike, even in the way you talk. Not siblings by blood, but closer than real siblings!" Shi Yu spread his hands.
"So you're part of that organization too."
In fact, Qin Nuo had suspected this during their conversation yesterday.
The real world couldn't interfere with the game instances, yet Qin Yushi seemed to know what happened inside them.
He even suspected Qin Yushi might be Shi Yu, though it seemed far-fetched...
"This all seems like no coincidence," Qin Nuo said meaningfully, looking at Qin Yushi.
Qin Yushi gave Shi Yu a cold glance, then turned to Qin Nuo, her tone softening, "It's not a coincidence."
"This is what I wanted to tell you before entering the instance."
"This isn't the place to talk. Let's go back and discuss it."
Shi Yu also smiled, "Don't leave me out."
"But speaking of which, Qin Yushi, your brother is really naive!"
"Twice fooled by my acting, spinning around..."
Listening to Shi Yu's merciless teasing, Qin Nuo's face grew darker.
The Blood-Eyed Ghost said, "I can crush his balls right now, make him cry prettier than he laughs!"
