Chapter 1239 - 1239: Breaking Into the Qin Camp
The Qin Camp was filled with a strong smell of blood.
There were many more patrols than usual, each one extremely vigilant.
Although Ye Guichen employed his swift footwork, almost no one could track his movements.
Yet, as he moved through the shadows, he couldn't find Gui Tuo.
Two Qin soldiers were on patrol when they suddenly felt a gust of wind pass by.
"Did you notice anything just now?" one of the Qin soldiers asked in confusion.
The other Qin soldier touched his face and found a wound had inexplicably appeared, with blood gushing as he touched it.
The soldier was shocked, "Could it be a ghost!"
But, upon looking around, they couldn't see any trace at all.
It was as if eyes surrounded them, yet they couldn't find where those eyes were.
Seeing the wound on his companion's face, the first Qin soldier frowned, "General Hu mentioned someone who can control ghosts appeared. Could there be other ghosts here?"
"Probably not, right? Didn't General Hu make us rub black dog blood on our foreheads? It's said that doing so makes ghosts unable to hide."
The two tensed up in discussion but found nothing.
Just as they began to relax, they suddenly felt dizzy.
The next moment, their vision blurred and they lost their footing.
Upon landing again, they found themselves inside an empty tent.
At the same time, a figure appeared before them.
A man in green clothes.
"Who are you?" The two Qin soldiers' expressions changed slightly as they stared at him.
Ye Guichen turned and struck one of the soldiers on the head.
That soldier didn't even have time to understand what happened before his head was crushed, dying instantly without a chance to call for help.
The other soldier was about to shout but felt a chill on his neck.
Turning his head, cold sweat broke out on his back.
It was a sword—a heavy sword weighing over a hundred pounds.
The man holding the sword was Ye Guichen.
"Where are Lei Long and that ghost?" Ye Guichen's voice was deep, almost like a call from the afterlife: "If you dare utter a sound, or have any daring thought, I won't hesitate to cut your head off. Don't worry; your companion hasn't gone far yet. If you die, you should catch up with him soon."
The Qin soldier trembled, his throat moved twice, and he stammered out, "Lei Long is locked in a special tent, heavily guarded, and the ghost was captured by General Hu. I don't know anything else."
Ye Guichen squinted, immediately performed the Wood Longevity Technique to control the soldier, then gagged him so he couldn't shout.
Afterward, Ye Guichen took the clothes from the dead soldier and wore them himself.
Once ready, Ye Guichen stowed away the Immortal Slayer Sword and snapped his fingers.
The vines that entangled the soldier instantly withered.
The soldier looked at Ye Guichen with terror, as if staring at a monster, astounded by his high-level magical skills.
Ye Guichen chuckled, "If you want to die, you can try. If you don't want to die, take me to Lei Long now."
The Qin soldier nodded with difficulty, aware Ye Guichen could kill him easily.
Plus, Ye Guichen's methods were too horrifying, causing a shiver down his spine.
Their General Hu Lu holds high skills and understands ghostly techniques, but couldn't have reached such a point of crafting spells with a mere gesture.
"Okay, I'll lead the way, please don't kill me." Facing his mortality, the Qin soldier dared not delay, promptly nodding.
The Qin soldier led Ye Guichen out of the tent.
Because of his identical attire, Ye Guichen went unrecognized.
The soldier led Ye Guichen to a spot near a tent made from wire mesh within the camp.
"There, that's the place where Elder Lei Long is held, a deputy guards inside," the soldier pointed at the tent.
Ye Guichen naturally sensed Lei Long's aura and that of the guard expert.
The deputy's cultivation was only at the fifth level of Qi Refinement.
Ye Guichen could easily eliminate him.
However, killing him could draw attention from those outside, and it would be quite a hassle to escape even if possible.
"Take me in," Ye Guichen whispered.
The soldier quickly waved his hand, "General Hu utilizes people there, no one else can go in."
"Just lead the way!" Ye Guichen ignored him and grabbed the soldier's arm, inserting thorny vines that made him wince in pain.
Helpless, the soldier led him outside the tent but was immediately stopped.
"Without General Hu's permission, no one can enter here," the guard scrutinized Ye Guichen, "Who are you?"
"I'm here on General Hu's orders to ask some questions," Ye Guichen quickly responded, and pushed the soldier beside him.
The soldier quickly nodded along, "Yes, yes, sent by General Hu indeed."
"Show it!" Unexpectedly, the guard extended his hand.
Ye Guichen paused, "What?"
"No authorization from General Hu, you can't enter!"
Ye Guichen raised an eyebrow, "General Hu didn't give a letter, just told me to come, said nothing else."
"Sorry, you'll have to ask outside!" the guard dismissed.
Ye Guichen hadn't expected such tight security here and was considering his next steps when someone walked out of the tent.
The man was armored, holding a thick baton.
"What's going on?" he asked the guard upon exiting.
The guard quickly explained, "General Feng, they claim General Hu sent them to inquire, but they lack written orders, so we can't let them in."
"Oh, no problem, let them in," General Feng waved, signaling them to enter.
Ye Guichen didn't expect to be easily let in and walked into the tent with the soldier.
But as soon as they entered, the tent door promptly shut.
Next, General Feng swung the iron baton at Ye Guichen's back heart.
At the same time, General Feng gave a low shout, "General Hu said without an order, those who come are thieves!"
This move was swift, and would mean death for an ordinary person.
But Ye Guichen, at Qi Refinement level eight, feared nothing.
He easily dodged, moving fluidly out of harm's way.
Then, his body seemed to transform into a phantom, appearing beside General Feng in an instant.
Before General Feng could react, Ye Guichen pinned his throat, "If I choose, I can kill you right now!"
Ye Guichen sneered coldly.
