Chapter 1222: The Baby’s Coming!
And so, just like that, Chen Xi embarked on his bold new Chapter as a martial arts student. Every morning, before even the first blush of dawn touched the sky, he dutifully showed up at the Su household, eager—well, mostly eager—to prove his dedication.
After five consecutive days of running laps around the compound like a soldier in basic training, Su Shen finally deemed him worthy of actual instruction.
"Follow Su Li’s lead," Su Shen said one morning, standing in the center of the courtyard with his arms crossed like a general surveying his troops. "Hold your horse stance. You’re not done until Su Li gives out."
Chen Xi blinked. He stared at the child standing nearby and broke into an easy, almost cocky smile. "Come on, isn’t that a bit unfair? You’re making me compete with a kid. How long can he really last?"
At that, Su Li, all of ten years old and deeply offended, squared his little shoulders and fired back with all the bite of a boy who had spent far too long with adults who underestimated him. "You better hope your legs don’t start trembling too soon."
With that, Su Li spread his legs shoulder-width apart, sank smoothly into a flawless horse stance in the middle of the courtyard, and settled in like a miniature Shaolin monk.
Chen Xi laughed it off. What was so hard about standing, anyway? He casually copied the posture, legs bent, back straight.
Ten minutes in, beads of sweat began to dot his forehead like pearls in the morning sun. His thighs quivered ever so slightly. He glanced sideways—Su Li hadn’t moved an inch.
Su Li said sweetly, "Is it because you’re getting older? Your base looks so... shaky. Are you sure you’re not going to topple over soon?"
Fifteen more minutes passed and Chen Xi was visibly struggling. His legs threatened mutiny. He was practically swaying like a tree in a typhoon.
