Su Shen’s expression turned serious, his voice low and earnest as he hastily explained, "Gu Zi, I would never do anything to hurt you. These days, aside from being consumed by work, the only thing on my mind has been you."
As he spoke, he pulled out a velvet jewelry box from his briefcase, flipping it open with a quiet flourish and presenting it to Gu Zi. Inside lay a dazzling diamond bracelet.
Carefully, Su Shen lifted the bracelet and clasped it around her wrist. It fit perfectly—almost too perfectly—as if it had been crafted solely for her.
Her hands, already so fair and delicate, her wrists slender and elegant, made the bracelet gleam even more brilliantly than it would have on a professional model. It was as though she had elevated the jewelry, granting it an even more refined allure.
Su Shen lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it reverently, his breath warm and brimming with undisguised adoration.
Gu Zi blushed immediately, glancing nervously at the children nearby. Fortunately, Su Bing was still busy fiddling with a box of foam toys, while Su Li and Su Le were engrossed in rummaging through Su Shen’s luggage. No one seemed to be paying them any attention.
Relieved, Gu Zi relaxed, but not without throwing a quick glare at Su Shen.
"You remember what I said," she reminded him sharply. "I wasn’t joking. And... seeing as the diamond on this thing is pretty decent, I’ll let today’s little incident slide."
