After dropping the little ones off at school, the chauffeur absolutely insisted on driving her to the university. Gu Zi, thinking it was on the way anyway, accepted the ride in the Xu family’s gleaming black sedan.

They gaped. That car wasn’t just expensive — it was astronomical — and to top it off, a small national flag was mounted proudly at the front. That wasn’t something ordinary citizens could just slap onto their vehicles. No, this was serious status.
Tang Xue immediately slipped into full gossip mode. "Li Juan," she whispered urgently, "you don’t think Gu Zi’s husband is some big official from the capital, do you? I mean... who was she riding with? Oh my God, do you think she’s been noticed by some crazy powerful figure?"
