Chapter 1093: The Children’s School
Gu Zi smiled indulgently at her youngest son. "Northern-style mantou is meant to be filling—it’s supposed to be dense. You’ve got to eat it slowly. It’s especially delicious with a bit of pickled vegetables. Trust me, it’s a match made in heaven."
The pickles, of course, were complimentary—help yourself, take as much as you like.
Following his mother’s advice, Su Li took smaller bites of the mantou and paired it with the salty pickles. Oh wow. He couldn’t believe it—it was better than eating meat!
Su Bing and Su Le weren’t fussy eaters either. They ate contentedly, thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Gu Zi watched her children devouring their food with genuine pleasure. A smile played on her lips. She had gone to university up north in her previous life, and now here she was again, studying in the north. Life had a funny way of circling back, didn’t it? It felt so right.
After lunch, the family left the campus and headed to the nearby department store. They had only just moved in, and naturally, the first order of business was stocking the kitchen. Rice, oil, soy sauce, vinegar, tea—nothing could be missed.
And considering Gu Zi’s flair for refined living, the shopping list was enough to fill a small mountain. But she wasn’t about to grab everything in one go. Wandering through a well-stocked mall with time on your hands? Always a good idea.
The capital’s summer heat was still relentless, but thankfully, Su Shen had driven them there in the car, which he’d thoughtfully outfitted with mini fans. Everyone was comfortable in the air-conditioned cocoon, and by the time they got back to the courtyard house, the temperature had dropped enough that the two newly bought electric fans did the trick.
