Chapter 371 - 371: Spar
"They looked similar, but I doubt it's him," Ame suddenly said.
Her words immediately drew everyone's attention back to Eman.
The group stared at him once more, this time far more carefully than before. Their earlier surprise gradually faded as they examined his face from different angles.
A few seconds later, realization slowly dawned on them.
"You're right," one of the boys admitted. "At first glance, he really does look exactly like Yeman."
"But if you look closely," another continued, narrowing his eyes, "they're actually different."
The others nodded in agreement.
"Haha, well, there are plenty of people who happen to look alike," one of the boys laughed, scratching the back of his head.
"Exactly," another said. "Their facial features are almost identical, but his eyes are different."
"And his hair too."
"The way he carries himself isn't the same either."
Everyone subconsciously compared the person standing before them to the classmate they once knew.
The Yeman from Earth had always been quiet. He rarely talked in class. Almost never raised his voice. Even when someone took advantage of him, he would simply smile awkwardly and let it go. Like he was so careful of his actions.
The young man standing before them now was completely different.
Although his appearance was nearly identical, the atmosphere surrounding him was the total opposite of Yeman's.
His posture was straight. His eyes were calm yet sharp, carrying an indescribable confidence.
Whether it was arrogance or something, no one knew. One thing for sure though, this man wasn't Yeman.
On top of that, Yeman wasn't even in the classroom when the summoning circle appeared. He was expelled from the university at that time. So how would he appear here?
Eman, meanwhile, didn't know whether he should laugh or cry. He understood their reactions. Even he had been shocked when he first saw this body's reflection.
The resemblance was uncanny.
If not for the younger appearance, even he would have believed he had somehow transmigrated with his original body.
'What a ridiculous coincidence…'
He silently sighed.
Of course, he couldn't exactly tell them the truth. He was still not sure of the consequences. Since they already believed that he was a different person, it was much better that way. At least, for now. Especially because his next mission evolved them.
Among the group, Eline, quietly observed him without saying a word. After a brief moment, she finally stepped forward.
"Hello."
A gentle voice made Eman glance at the speaker. He found a familiar young woman with shoulder length chestnut hair. Her expression carried an awkward smile, while her hands were clasped together in front of her as though she was trying to gather enough courage to speak.
"I'm sorry if my companions came across as rude," she said apologetically. "They mistook you for someone else. You look almost exactly like someone we know, so they thought you were that person. Please don't take what they said to heart."
Her tone was sincere, and there wasn't the slightest trace of arrogance in her eyes.
Eman quietly observed her face.
After a brief moment, fragments of distant memories surfaced from the depths of his mind.
Eline.
If he remembered correctly, she had once been the class leader of their class back on Earth.
Among all their classmates, Eline had always stood out, not because she was loud or exceptionally talented in sports, but because of her personality.
She was intelligent, responsible, and surprisingly approachable despite consistently ranking near the top of every examination.
Teachers and most classmates trusted her.
Whenever there were group projects or school events, she naturally became the one everyone looked toward for guidance.
She was also incredibly kind to everyone.
Even students who barely interacted with others found it easy to talk to her. Still, despite her dependable appearance, Eman remembered another side of her.
She could be surprisingly timid.
Whenever conflicts broke out between classmates, she often wanted to step in and mediate, yet her gentle personality sometimes prevented her from speaking firmly enough. Instead, she would hesitate until someone else resolved the argument.
Seeing her now and watching her trying to smooth things between him and her companions, Eman immediately understood something. It seemed Eline finally found some courage. Perhaps in her mind, she wanted to prevent any possible conflict before it turned into a real one.
Eman had never been particularly close to Eline.
They had attended the same classes for years, sat through countless lectures together, and occasionally exchanged greetings.
Beyond that, they were practically strangers. That was also the same with others. They simply happened to exist within the same classroom.
Even so, seeing familiar faces after so long, stirred emotions he had long believed were buried. His gaze slowly drifted at them. Every single one of them belonged to the same class he once attended on Earth.
Their appearance here only proved one thing. There was no mistake. They were the summoned heroes. Even after seeing them with his own eyes, Eman still found the situation difficult to believe.
The classmates he thought he would never meet again were standing before him in another world.
It felt unreal.
'Fate truly had a twisted sense of humor.'
A thought suddenly crossed his mind.
'Wait. Did… Everyone gets summoned here?'
His expression remained calm, but his thoughts churned beneath the surface.
Was the entire class transported to this world?
Eman eventually nodded at Eline's words.
"I understand."
Seeing that he wasn't offended, Eline visibly relaxed. A small sigh escaped her lips before another curious expression appeared on her face.
"By the way…" she hesitated. "Are you… from the Magic Academy?"
Her eyes drifted toward the elegant academy uniform he was wearing.
"I recognized the emblem on your coat."
Eman gave another simple nod.
"Yes. I am."
The moment he answered, several pairs of eyes lit up. The atmosphere immediately shifted. One of the boys stepped forward.
He wore rectangular glasses, and white bandages wrapped around his left forearm from wrist to elbow.
Despite his scholarly appearance, there was an unmistakable unique characteristic in the way he carried himself.
"I've heard a lot about the Magic Academy," the bespectacled boy said. "Most of the soldiers, speak very highly of it."
"They say it's where the empire nurtures its greatest talents."
He adjusted his glasses before smiling.
"That makes me wonder…"
"How strong is a student from the Magic Academy, really?"
Although the words sounded polite, the challenge hidden beneath them was impossible to miss.
Eman merely looked at him. His expression remained unreadable. Truthfully… He struggled to remember the boy's name.
Because he rarely interacted with most of his classmates back on Earth, many names had gradually faded from his memory over the years.
But faces… he could still vaguely remember. He forgot most of their names but their faces somehow looked familiar.
Perhaps…
The only reason these people still remembered him was because of that incident. That humiliating incident cost him his future.
In a brief moment, the memory of that day surfaced in his mind. Eman wasn't really affected by it anymore.
Actually, he realized something.
'If they're all here…'
'Then Kyle might be here too.'
The thought caused his eyes to narrow ever so slightly.
Kyle.
The person responsible for the darkest chapter of his previous life. If the entire class had indeed been summoned, there was no reason Kyle wouldn't be among them.
While Eman lost in his thoughts, the bespectacled young man frowned.
"Hey, why did you suddenly turn quiet? Are you deaf?"
"Hey, Marco. It's a bit rude to say that to someone you just met," Eline reminded him.
But Marco just smirked.
"The rude one here is him. We are the heroes. Compared to him, our status is far higher than an academy student, don't you think?"
"You're right."
"Yeah."
The other two boys agreed.
Eman glanced at them and wondered why they were so petty.
"I heard you. You're asking me how strong an academy student is? That depends on each individual."
Marco snorted.
"Oh, is that so? Right, My name is Hero Marco…"
He emphasized the word 'Hero'.
"I happened to have a mage profession too. Will an academy student give guidance to this humble soul?"
Eman almost laughed.
Without even waiting for a reply, Marco raised one hand.
A second later…
Flames burst into existence above his palm. The fire burned brilliantly, dancing like a living creature. Heat spread through the air. What caught Eman's attention wasn't the size of the flames.
'A chantless spell.'
There wasn't the slightest trace of spellcasting. The fire simply appeared.
'Interesting.'
Around them, except for Eline, the other heroes immediately cheered.
"Awesome!"
"I've been wanting to see how strong academy students are. How about a friendly spar?"
Ame folded her arms with visible interest. Only Eline looked uncomfortable. She glanced at Eman. Then to her companions. Her lips parted slightly as though she wanted to stop them.
"Maybe we shouldn't…" she began quietly.
However…
The moment she was about to object, Eman spoke up.
"I see. So you're the heroes. Sorry for my rude behavior a while ago, Sir Hero. If Sir Hero wanted a friendly spar with me, It's my pleasure to cross magic with one of the brave heroes. But I don't think I'm strong enough to give you guidance."
Eman decided to act lowkey. It was also a good chance to measure the hero's strength.
Marco touched his nose.
"Don't worry. It's just a friendly spar. I will make sure not to hurt you."
Although he said that, the grin on his face belied his real intention. He actually wanted to injure him. As long as not to kill him. What he disliked the most were handsome men. Especially those with calm and sharp demeanor.
Truthfully…
Eman had no interest in meaningless duels. He had never been someone who enjoyed showing off his strength. If this had happened a few moments ago, he probably would have politely declined and walked away.
However…
Things are different now.
These people were no longer ordinary classmates. They were heroes personally summoned by the church. They were individuals blessed by another world's divine power.
They were regarded as humanity's greatest hope.
Eman had heard countless rumors regarding summoned heroes. Their growth speed surpassed geniuses from noble families.
And right because of that, he wanted to witness their abilities firsthand. This was a rare opportunity. A chance to personally measure the strength of these so-called heroes.
"Very well."
After Eman said that, they transferred to an open area.
A faint breeze swept across the open courtyard.
When the people in the palace heard that Hero Marco would have a duel against a student from the Magic Academy, the courtyard was immediately crowded by people.
The atmosphere immediately became tense. Both excitement and curiosity sparkled in everyone's eyes.
Some of them even started betting. Those who understood the hero's divine blessing, obviously chose Hero Marco.
But the question was, who was Hero Marco's opponent?
When they saw the opponent, many of them were at a loss.
