Chapter 366 - 366: Is this a date?
"Something bigger? That sounds like trouble. Let's not get involved in that," Eman said calmly, also hinting that he wanted peaceful days rather than chaotic days.
"I actually came here to ask you to help me with something."
He raised the cup to his lips but paused when he heard her.
"My Help?"
Eman looked surprised. It was unusual for Mina to ask for help from him.
"Yes, is there a problem with that?"
Eman smiled faintly. "Not at all. Just a little bit surprised. So, what kind of help do you need?"
Unfortunately, his hint landed nothing but thin air.
"I need you to come with me to investigate something."
Her response made Eman pause for a moment, and glanced at her.
"Investigation? That sounds dangerous, sorry, I refuse," Eman quickly refused. He just solved a problem. The last thing he wanted right now was looking for another one.
"Comrade, don't refuse right away. At least hear me out first."
Eman almost choked from the word comrade. Did she really call him that? Really? Coming from her?
He glanced at Mina, wondering if something had gone wrong with her brain.
"Is this your new way of messing with me?" Eman asked, but his voice was calm as usual.
"Huh? I'm not messing with you," Mina quickly said. Her voice and expression looked serious.
Eman then coughed lightly.
"Ahem."
He gently placed back the cup on the table before recalling an incident before.
"Remember that time in the Subjugation Mission? You stared at me like this."
Eman pulled the corner of his eyes to show Mina how sharp and cold her gaze was at that time.
Mina's face instantly turned bright red seeing it, not by anger but by embarrassment.
"Alright, alright! Stop it. I admit that's my fault."
She waved both hands in front of Eman, probably to erase that memory from his mind.
She finally understood why Eman asked her whether she was messing with him.
She quickly added, "Besides, I already asked sorry, didn't I?"
"When did you— ah, nevermind." Eman shook his head. "And don't forget the time you suddenly attacked me from behind. I honestly thought you were either an assassin hired to kill me or someone with serious anger issues who attacked anyone that ruined her mood."
Hearing Eman recalling those events one after another, she wanted to dig a hole and buried herself on the spot.
With her face burning red with embarrassment, she blurted out, "If you keep bringing that up, I'll write one thousand bad things about your shop in my thesis!"
"…"
Eman immediately fell silent.
The last thing he wanted is to have his newly built shop getting slandered by someone from the Thirteen Great Families.
"Alright, comrade. What exactly do you want me to do?"
Mina chuckled when she heard Eman's obedient tone.
"As I said, help me investigate."
"Investigate what?"
"These recent and current events… Don't you find it suspicious?"
"Are you talking about the current conflict between those two super clans?"
"That too, but that's not all."
Mina let out a sigh before continuing.
"Okay, I'll tell you something."
She gathered her thoughts for a moment.
"A few days ago, I was summoned by the heads of our family. They told me not to get involved in what's happening in the academy."
"That means they care about you a lot."
"Wait. Don't interrupt me. That's not the point."
"Oh. Right. My bad."
"Just listen first."
"Alright."
"The thing is… they wanted me to stay away from the academy for the time being because something much bigger is about to begin."
Something bigger.
Wasn't that exactly what she had said earlier?
This time, however, Mina mentioned it came from the heads of Skyblaze Family.
Eman's expression grew slightly serious.
'The Skyblaze family is ranked eleventh among the Thirteen Great Families. To which the higher the number, means the stronger the family. That makes them the third strongest family.
If even a family like that is warning their members to stay away from the academy, then this shouldn't be taken lightly. Which meant, something big might be about to happen.'
For some reason, his curiosity was beginning to grow.
"By the way, why ask me, of all people? Don't you have friends?" He asked.
Mina puffed out her chest proudly.
"I have the Princess and Sol. But Princess Liya was summoned to the palace days ago and Sol also has important things needed to do. She has been gone for quite some time now and I don't know when she will ever come back. So yeah… I'm all alone right now."
She bit her lip and her shoulders slumped at the end of her words.
Eman looked at her sympathetically.
'What a pitiful girl'.
For once, he genuinely felt sorry with her.
A distant past reappeared in his mind. Back on Earth, he has friends too. But one of them betrayed him. So yeah, it didn't matter how little the number of your friends was as long as they were the right real friends.
Also, hearing Mina mentioning Sol as one of her friends, made Eman feel something warm in his chest.
"Alright. Let me think about it."
He couldn't just agree so easily.
"By the way, don't you have anything better to do aside from putting yourself in danger?"
"Well, as you can see. Even if I do, I still chose to investigate." Mina shrugged. "Besides, all classes are temporarily suspended from now because of the current issue involving the top clans. And no further announcements for when the class will resume."
'What? The classes were suspended?'
Judging by his reaction, Mina figured out he hadn't heard the news.
"You didn't know?"
Eman shook his head.
"The teachers didn't mention anything this morning."
"The announcement just came this afternoon."
"I see."
But thinking about it now, with the current conflict between the two super clans, it was indeed a right call to suspend all classes.
"So? Are you in?"
"Give me a day to think about it. This isn't exactly an easy job, y'know?"
"Alright."
Mina nodded.
After finishing the rest of her Caramel-flavored coffee, she looked at him again.
"By the way, do you have any plans for tomorrow?"
Hearing her question, Eman paused to think.
"Since all classes have been suspended…"
Should he go back to Rothsport Town and help Sol and the others? But he wanted Sol to stand on her own as a person.
Also, there was no more he could help them with. Moreover, Ameross was there too if they needed assistance.
Or should he go home to the Sunville Village?
He missed Eina, his sister.
But it would be unfair if he went to Sunville Village without Sol.
While thinking, he suddenly remembered something.
That's right. When he materialized before inside his room in the dormitory, he found a letter. Perhaps it was the right time to respond.
Eman looked at Mina.
"Actually, I received a letter from the palace a few days ago, so I think it's the right time to visit the palace tomorrow."
"What really?"
For some reason, Mina suddenly looked excited.
"Can I come with you? I wanted to visit Princess Liya."
Eman considered it for a moment.
After thinking there wasn't a problem, he nodded.
"Sure."
Mina beamed with delight.
"Do you think we'll get to meet some of the summoned heroes?" Mina suddenly asked, which made Eman remember it as well.
'That's right. There are also those summoned heroes too.'
"Maybe we will."
Eman genuinely curious about those so-called summoned heroes.
Suddenly, Mina turned bright red all of a sudden.
She just realized.
She and Eman all alone, drinking coffee.
'Is this considered a date?'
They didn't talk about love, though. However, they planned to visit the palace tomorrow.
For some reason, she felt very excited.
