Chapter 161
I’m going to meet someone. The last person I’d actually ever want to meet but I don’t have much of a choice in this matter because I’m not that privileged.
“Hello?” I call when I reach my supposed destination. My voice echoes and due to how much my voice dragged and how loud yet distant it sounded, I could tell how empty this place is. Knowing I’m in here in this darkness is starting to make me panic. “Are you here? I did as you asked me to.” I call with desperation. Each word of mine reverberates through the walls causing an even louder echo that leaves me shivering in my spot.
I’m not using a flashlight because I was told not to when I got to the building. I don’t know how I managed to wade my way through but I’m lucky to not have inclured any injuries. If I did, the person I’m here for wouldn’t care any less. In fact, I’m sure she’d be pleased to know and see that I hurt myself. If there’ll be any form of concern, it’d be over the fact that the one person she wants being idle about our recent keeping in contact will see the sore if I sustained any.
A scoff leaves my lips. From all my talk in my head, it’s quite obvious who I’m here to see. I dip my hand in my pocket to reach out to grab my phone. I need to at least see what’s in front of me and have a solid knowledge of my environment.
“Don’t even think about doing that.” A voice filled with irritation slid into my ears. Unlike mine, her voice didn’t echo. I can’t fathom how that is normal but nothing about her recent violent behaviour towards me has been normal.
I swallow, dropping my phone back into my pocket. I can hear the clonk of shoe soles, which by the sound I guess to be heels, hit the floor. This feet movement trails all around me, letting me know that she’s circling me. Where exactly she is though? That I don’t know. It’s hard to pinpoint a location when I can’t even see anything.
“I came as requested. It’s late and-“
