Chapter 126
- ASAMI -
“You never really knew when to back off, did you?” Killian asks, leaning his back against a wall, facing forward. I’m standing at a far distance, watching him from the side.
“And break the heart of your little princess? That won’t be very nice now, would it?”
He flashes me a stare and a squeak escapes my lips. I immediately maintain my composure. Killian smirks and that makes me frown.
“You know,” I say, keeping my tone confident. “I took your threats literally. Thought about it too but then the loop hole started to dangle right in my face.” He watches me carefully as I pace in the room, by his side. I stop walking and stand in front of him. “As long as she’s with me, everything you say is a bluff.” Killian’s brow raises. “Unless you’d rather scare her away from you.” I look him straight in the eye. “That’s not what you want now, is it?” With a suppressed tone, my lips mask a smirk. Exactly. He is not ready to reveal his identity to her and that has become very advantageous.
His subtle chuckle makes my heart skip a beat. Killian pulls himself off the wall and walks to me. Our height difference and size difference becomes overly alarming. He puts a hand on my hair and shuffles, roughening it. “Don’t think too much, little fox.”
Huh?
Am I safe? Yesterday he went all psycho on me and today he’s being. . . Not mean? I don’t even know what to respond to that. He’s not supposed to be calm. It goes against every law in the universe. I raise a brow as he carefully takes his hand off my hair. “Believe it or not, I need you alive. For now.”
Tch. Yeah, right. I roll my eyes as he retreats back.
