Chapter 98 - NINETY EIGHT

This snooping around, I don’t like it. I sigh and close the book I’m reading. I’m on the last page yet I put a book mark. My head dart to the side to look at the lady sleeping peacefully at my side.
She’s being touchy. On a normal day, I wouldn’t get judgy about it as every important file about myself is locked safely in my home office but she’d be in my home often. Sometimes on her own and what happens if she chooses to wander around?
Explore what shouldn’t be touched? I raise my hand up and stretch it over her body. I want to touch her. Check her temperature and maybe give her a water bath but I don’t want to wake her. I put my hand down. My home office is always locked but I’ve caught her there before. Luckily, it was dark.
I give too many fucks about this girl to let her know me yet. One thing for sure is, if she does, she’d have to sign a non-disclosure agreement like Kate did. And if she ever utters a word about this to anyone, and I mean anyone, my fist folds, the consequences are severe. One I don’t want to live to witness. Because I’d be damned the day I watch her suffer.
But with Asami lurking around, it’s due time to inform my little Hazel. My phone screen lights up and I reach my hand lower on my bed to pick it up. With new people showing up in my life recently, I’ve been having so many messages.
Kate has been in contact with me. Her situation is still dire and I’m guessing it’s high time I intervened despite her demands not to. She’s under my protection, protection covers everything even family matters but I’m giving her time to let her family sort this out. If it doesn’t work out well, I will step in. And no, I won’t kill anybody. I’ll just ensure their tongues never utter something devious and their minds won’t go so far to want to hurt her family.
Then there’s Natalie. I chat with her once in a while but meeting her has made that quite frequent. She’s yet to send me the video of what went on that night. I am willing to sit down for hours and monitor Hazel’s evening. I want to know what she drank. I’m sure as hell Asami gave that to her. Natalie sent the drugs over. She showed up for me. That is something I’m glad for.
Lastly, apart from Liam, there’s Asami and her connection with S. We have a meeting this Friday. I need to keep Hazel out of the house on Thursday night to Saturday. She cannot be seen more by S even though he most likely knows of her existence. I sigh. Too many things to think about yet my hands are tied to even work on what’s important.
I could finally hack into that thing though. I don’t have the identity of the murderer yet but I know where they are. Not where they live though, I just know the state and province. It won’t be long till I catch up and give that woman what she deserves. If this happens easily, I’ll be able to keep Hazel off the eyes of S while finishing my part of the deal.
Then I’ll find that bastard’s identity. I look at Hazel once more then get up from the bed. I don’t have time to waste, a lot of things must be done. I look at my phone screen again. Natalie just sent a file. Finally. Time to see what Asami has been up to in the last few hours.
