Chapter 93 - NINETY THREE
- HAZEL -
I’m drunk. Ridiculously drunk yet I still have some sense of my environment and what the fuck I’m doing, which is a good thing. This party rocks! I still don’t understand why outside this building looked gloomy and desolate but this part of the mansion is buzzing with energy and life.
And the best part? I’m bonding with people. Right now, we’re playing a game. One I’ve never played before and definitely sure it was invented for the sole purpose of this party but it’s fun.
At the back of the house is a pool coloured with red dye. The decor here is to die for. Everyone is putting on something witchy, or wizardy, or Frankensteiny or zombie-y with fake blood and props and all that.
Our drinks are red. Even some mini jars are labelled to fit the theme. I don’t know how Carol pulled this off, but I definitely would love to attend another party she hosts.
Maybe, just maybe, I may host one someday. It’s been ages since I’ve had my house buzzing with people. It’s been ages since I was in that house.
Now, back to the game. It’s a large boardgame, like a dark fantasy version of monopoly. Just with better things and an eye for the dice. The pieces are creepy figures and when someone’s piece actually goes to jail, the person steps into a cardboard carved jail and waits there till he or she can play again.
We’ve been rolling dices with drinks and snacks coming. I’m having way too much fun with everything going around. Even the snacks look spooky yet are delicious. I roll the dice and cross my fingers.
Please give me double six. Please give me double six.
I finally let the dice on the board, watching it carefully. It stops moving and I peer my head closer. It’s a four and five. I groan with frustration, taking a good sip out of my cup. Remember the mix Carol gave me earlier? It’s fucking divine. I’m addicted to it.
I move my piece around the board. I’m going to pick a card and read. Please be a good card, I can’t do something bizarre. One of us had to eat worms. Not real worms, just jelly with a laxative mixed in it. I hope that won’t be me. I gulp.
