Chapter 29 - TWENTY NINE
- KATE -
"This isn’t part of what we agreed on, you shouldn’t let her in. You shouldn’t let anyone in. And in your room? What is wrong with you Killian?!" I ask, walking toward him from the door entrance. It is night. Once I was sure Hazel was fast asleep and no one would need me for anything throughout the night, I headed over to Killian’s.
Killian is playing with his zippo and as much as I hate to realise it, I feel like he’s not even listening to me. Like he doesn’t care about what I’m saying.
"It doesn’t mean anything, Kate."
"Doesn’t mean anything?" I stood in front of him and pushed his body to his side by his shoulder just so he stares at me. "Can you say that about everyone else involved? You know how dangerous it is for anyone to be around you." I argued. He knows that very well. I do too. Which is why I care about Hazel. He can bring any friend, be it man or woman but not her. Never her. She’s my best friend and I’ll hate it if something happens to her because of me. Because of him, rather.
Not to talk about the envy brewing in my that he invited her home and not just anywhere else in this house but to his room. She was putting on his clothes. I love her and I hundred percent trust that nothing happened and it was just him aiding his fiancée’s friend out but there are certain things that require boundaries. I’m starting to regret introducing both of them to each other, but keeping him a secret would’ve swallowed me up.
"Yet you’re here." Killian said, responding to my complaint arrogantly.
That made me scoff. "Not like you’ve given me a choice. I’m aware of what you are, Killian. I accepted it long ago and I have your protection. She doesn’t. Don’t do anything to harm my friend." I stepped back. "Or else this... all of this, " I waved my hand in front of me, pointing at everything in this room. "And us," I looked at him dead straight in the eye. "Would mean nothing. So set your priorities straight." I am so angry that I walked out on him.
My heart is beating terribly against my rib cage as I did that. Part of me is scared. My body is shaking and I haven’t even walked to the door yet. I took a deep breath in to calm myself but it’s not working.
"Kate, beloved, don’t go. Don’t turn away from me." Killian said with that tone that makes me want to listen to him. I don’t even know if I can call that pleasant, dominating or manipulative but I love hearing him. I stood on the spot and waited, hearing his footsteps as he probably makes his way to me.
My breath hitched as my body fell backwards trapped in the arms of Killian. He pulled me to him and my body clashed against his chest. "Please don’t go." Killian clenched his arms around me. His elbow is in front of my chest, in between my breasts and with the way my heart is pounding, I wonder if he can feel my heart beat too.
