After a shower, Kristina helped me change the bandages and checked the wound. "The wound is healing well. In another two or three days, the stitches can be removed."
"By the way, where’s Lily?" I asked.
"She went to her grandmother’s."
It dawned on me that Kristina sometimes sent Lily to her parents’ house on weekends.
"So, it’s just the two of us tonight?"
I felt a rush of excitement, a hint of ambiguity in my eyes.
Kristina caught my drift, but she said, "No. I’m on my period."
