Chapter 20
"What’s up?"
I lifted my eyelids slightly to acknowledge her presence.
"Are you still holding a grudge?" Mia queried, her lips forming a pout, a trace of hurt flashing in her eyes. "I admit, I may have overstepped today, but it was merely a reaction to the moment’s intensity. Why did you have to paint me in such a light? Do I truly appear to be such a frivolous woman to you?"
In the recesses of my mind, I couldn’t help but think, you’re not just frivolous, you’re downright contemptible.
Choosing to ignore her, I busied myself with tidying my desk. I had hoped she would take the hint and leave, but to my surprise, she rose from her seat, reached over, and attempted to snatch something from my hand. "Let me help you!" she insisted.
She leaned over slightly, her V-neck blouse dipping dramatically.
Despite her vexing personality, I couldn’t deny her physical allure: a generous bust, a slender waist, all in perfect proportion.
She had positioned herself at a strategic height. I didn’t even need to lower my gaze to appreciate the view.
Suddenly, I felt a tickle in my palm, only to find it was her, tracing her nails over my skin.
Turning her face slightly, she teased, "You’re so naughty, where are you looking?" Clearing my throat, I managed to stammer, "Your necklace is rather fetching!"
I attempted to divert my gaze, but found it stubbornly fixated. Eventually, I surrendered, curious to see what game this infuriating woman was playing.
