Chapter 69: I Go to Sleep in the Second Bedroom (1)_1
He suddenly became eerily still, as if struck by a magic spell.
After a while, as if he understood something, he moved his fingertips along her cheek, finding her face wet with tears.
Feeling a jolt through his body, he instantly gripped her arm, turned her over, and positioned her to face him.
In the dim yellow bedroom light, he clearly saw the tears streaming down her face. Her wet eyelashes quivered incessantly, and her eyes reddened as she gazed at him. The tears welled in her eyes, nearly spilling over, but she bravely held them back.
The sight of her in this condition stung his eyes, causing an uncontrollable pang in his heart.
He didn’t understand what was wrong with him; he felt unknowingly panicked. It was an emotion he had never experienced before.
Staring blankly at her for a while, he barely managed to utter, "You..."
He only said one word, and she snapped back to reality. She glanced at him with her tear-soaked eyes, quickly pulled away from his grasp, grabbed her clothes and her pillow, and silently headed towards the door.
She hadn’t taken more than a few steps before he grabbed her wrist again.
Recalling the recent scene, her body involuntarily shuddered, and she instinctively tried to pull back.
Noticing her recoil, he paused, then looked down at the pillow she was gripping tightly. After a moment, he withdrew his gaze, gazed at her head for a bit, and then said, "I’m going to sleep in the other room."
