Only after Han Jingnian steadied himself did Xia Wan’an bend over to pick up her phone. She glanced at the time; it was already eleven o’clock. Supporting him with her small frame, she pointed to the stairs, "The elevator has been fixed now. Should we take the one upstairs or downstairs?"
Han Jingnian didn’t speak and pointed downwards.
Han Jingnian was almost powerless, thus Xia Wan’an had to summon up all her strength to support him all the way to the elevator.
Upon entering the elevator, Xia Wan’an thought that he wanted to go downstairs as he pointed in that direction. She instinctively reached out to press the button for the first floor, but before her fingertips touched the number on the panel, he, standing next to her, suddenly held her hand and lit up the top floor number instead.
His dry palm was warm and strong, yet his fingertips were slightly cold.
Xia Wan’an’s heart suddenly skipped a beat, and she momentarily forgot to pull her hand from his.
When Xia Wan’an came to her senses and saw that Han Jingnian was still holding her hand, she blushed slightly. She gently withdrew her hand from his palm, and to cover her embarrassment, found a random topic, "Are you heading back to the office?"
Staring at his now empty palm, Han Jingnian paused for a moment before replying with a nod, "Mm."
"Working overtime this late?"
