Chapter 1490 - 1489: Approaching New Year
Su Yunjin had all the New Year gifts delivered by Gu Ya, and the very next morning, as expected, people brought over supplies needed for the New Year to them.
They were transported by an ox cart, filling more than half of the cart. In addition to fresh chicken, duck, fish, and meat, there were also fruits and pastries, including firecrackers and couplets for the New Year celebrations, all delivered together.
Su Yunjin looked at the constant stream of items being brought into the house and turned around with a smile to Gu Ya, "Husband, you really did buy everything." Gu Ya said he arranged for someone to buy them, but Su Yunjin was skeptical. She did not expect that Gu Ya would really buy everything; he purchased exactly what she had listed without missing anything.
Su Yunjin, grinning, was about to check out the newly bought items. It was heavily snowing in the courtyard, and Gu Ya promptly pulled his little wife back, "Yunjin, it’s heavily snowing, don’t go out." The falling snow would cover one in snowflakes in no time if they stood in the courtyard.
Su Yunjin was held by Gu Ya and couldn’t move. Gu Ya said, "You go warm up by the fire in the house, I’ll go check now." Before Su Yunjin could agree, Gu Ya had already gone downstairs with an umbrella.
Su Yunjin stood still, and after Gu Ya went down, he first organized the helpers to store the chicken, duck, fish, and meat in the kitchen properly; the remaining pastries and fruits, Gu Ya personally moved them to the room he shared with his little wife. Su Yunjin was eating the freshly delivered sour plums, which were intensely sour. Normally, Su Yunjin couldn’t eat such sour plums at all, but now, perhaps because of her pregnancy, she did not only find them palatable but also quite to her taste.
Time flew quickly, and in the blink of an eye, it was already the end of the year, with only two days left until the New Year. Many families in the village had already put up bright red couplets and festive lanterns in advance. Even the neighbor, Aunt Song, put them up yesterday, and even her persimmon tree was decorated with small red lanterns.
Su Yunjin stood in the courtyard, looking at Aunt Song’s persimmon tree across the way, seeing those red lanterns made her feel especially festive. Hearing that appropriate exercise could help with the smooth delivery for his little wife, Gu Ya had recently stopped confining his little wife indoors and allowed her to go out.
Instead, he made sure the courtyard was cleaned of snow early each day, so that his little wife could walk around in it.
