With the bun shop closed and no need to tend to the crops, Mrs. Chu began visiting Su Yunjin’s home every day along with Aluo while Gu Jianghai, the fifth younger brother, would also come over.
After Mrs. An’s sincere apology, the relationship between Su Yunjin and Mrs. An had not returned to its former warmth but had eased quite a bit. The originally quiet household suddenly became lively with the arrival of so many people. Especially with the children around, it felt even more vibrant.
Building snowmen and having snowball fights, the children weren’t afraid of the cold. Even though their little hands and faces were red from the frost, they continued to play in the snow. Meanwhile, the adults, including Su Yunjin, sat around a fire in the yard, having cleared a space in the snow and lit a bonfire with wood.
Gathered around the fire, they were not only shielded from the cold but felt quite warm. After Feng Qiaoqiao and the old Feng woman caused quite a scene in Su Yunjin’s house, both Mrs. An and Mrs. Chu had heard about it. Mrs. Chu asked Su Yunjin what had happened, and the second elder sister roughly explained the incident.
Upon hearing it, Mrs. Chu spat disdainfully, "It’s good that woman was chased away. She’s shameless, not even considering her status, yet daring to covet the third brother."
Mrs. An frowned as well.
