Su Yunjin took a step back.
The man in front of her exuded a chilling aura, and Su Yunjin brimmed with caution. Seeing Su Yunjin’s nervousness, the man quickly said, "Madam Su, there’s no need to be tense, I mean no harm in coming here."
After the man finished speaking.
Su Yunjin let out a sigh of relief.
As long as this man wasn’t here to cause trouble, that would be good.
Gu Ya wasn’t home, and she, a woman pregnant with child, was certainly no match for the man before her. Especially since this man held a sword at his side, clearly not one to be trifled with.
"Big brother, have you come to my house just for a drink of water?" Su Yunjin couldn’t help but venture a guess after relaxing a bit. This man was a stranger to her, and if he wasn’t here to cause trouble, the only explanation was that he might be thirsty and had come to ask for some water.
Su Yunjin intended to pour a cup of water for the man before her and send him on his way quickly. Otherwise, facing such a man who seemed formidable, Su Yunjin still felt immense pressure. What if she accidentally angered him, and with a swing of his sword, wouldn’t she lose her life?
Su Yunjin imagined that scenario in her head and couldn’t help but shiver. The man seemed to sense Su Yunjin’s change in demeanor - after all, she was someone his Family Head had taken to heart and instructed him to protect. He dared not frighten Su Yunjin too much; otherwise, if he scared her and she complained even the slightest to the young master, he could say goodbye to his position.
Both Su Yunjin and the man had their own concerns, each afraid the other might do them harm. The man tried to soften his expression, warming up his usually icy demeanor, before responding to Su Yunjin’s question, "Madam Su, my visit today was rather presumptuous, not to ask for water. It is at the invitation of our Family Head; I have specifically come to escort you to meet him."
"What? Your Family Head has invited me?" A flash of surprise crossed Su Yunjin’s face.
