Chapter 1309: Not Thick-Skinned
Su Ningxiu and Wang Meng, still operating their rice shop, decided to visit Su Yunjin’s future sister-in-law together. After making their decision, a joyful Su Ningxiu returned to their shop with Wang Meng.
Wang Meng had bought a horse-drawn carriage; both Su Ningxiu and he used it for commuting. Returning in the carriage didn’t take too long. Wang Meng handled most of the shop’s affairs as he didn’t want his young wife to overexert herself. At most, he would let Su Ningxiu help him manage their accounts.
Wang Meng personally took care of greeting the customers.
Not long after the two sisters left, the worker Gu Ya had arranged to deliver the tomato sauce to the Wang Residence came back, holding a large box—a gift from Mrs. Qin for them.
"Shopkeeper Gu, this is from Mrs. Qin for you all," the worker said as he handed the wooden box to Gu Ya.
Su Yunjin’s face lit up with joy. "Husband, let me have it." Mrs. Qin had mentioned she would send her fragrant cakes and hair oil. Without looking, Su Yunjin knew what the box contained.
Indeed, the box held the fragrant cakes and hair oil Mrs. Qin had promised to send. Su Yunjin wanted to see them, but Gu Ya didn’t hand over the box. It was quite big, possibly weighing twenty to thirty pounds.
Under normal circumstances, Gu Ya would have casually handed over the box to his wife, but now, with her carrying a child, he needed to be more careful.
