"Mom, how much money did dad win from someone?" She knew her father played cards for small stakes, five bucks a game. Avery didn’t play mahjong, so she wasn’t sure if five bucks was a lot or not, but she guessed you probably couldn’t win or lose much with just five bucks.
"He said it was a winning streak, over a thousand bucks. Let’s go, call Giselle, we should hurry back. Where is Giselle?" Her mother looked around inside the store but didn’t see Giselle Browman.
"Giselle got a new job, she’s probably still at work." Avery explained. Bernard Taylor was different. Bernard Taylor was a boss who could take time off whenever he wanted.
"Then you drive and pick her up. Your father said to include Giselle with us." Her mother said, the two of them almost considered her sister’s child as another daughter of their own.
"I’ll give her a call." Avery nodded, only then remembering she hadn’t properly introduced Bernard Taylor to her mother, "Mom, this is Bernard Taylor. You probably haven’t forgotten. We used to be colleagues. Now, he is Giselle’s superior."
"Ah? Another superior of Giselle?" Her mother nodded continually at first, but when she heard that Bernard Taylor was Giselle’s superior, her expression immediately changed.
