Chapter 761: Pre-marital Rules (1)
What Bryan Hawkins did not expect was that after dinner, his grandmother put the rule into effect and insisted that he return to the Hawkins family with them. Carolline and Axel went back with Henry Ruiz and Emily Hill.
Bryan looked pitifully at Emily Hill, who showed no sympathy. "Bryan, it’s just a few days. Bear it and it’ll pass. Think about the decades you have ahead with Carolline and it’ll be fine."
"..." Bryan could only remain silent. He understood what she meant—if he couldn’t bear it, their happiness for the next few decades might be destroyed because of his stubbornness.
Of course, they didn’t believe in this superstition, but sometimes it could be seen as a form of faith. If people followed these superstitions, their hearts would be steadier and more at ease.
Whatever, the elderly have many rules, but who’s to say it isn’t for their own good?
Bryan glanced at Carolline, who probably didn’t feel any pain from the separation. He couldn’t bear even a second apart from her, yet she showed no sign of sadness. It made him want to spank her bottom.
"Grandma, can I have lunch with my wife and kid tomorrow?" Bryan was no longer trying to get through to Emily, and wanted to play the affection card. Fine, not being able to sleep with his wife at night, he accepted. But he could at least have lunch at his mother-in-law’s during the day and sneak in a visit with his wife and son.
"It’s better not to see each other these days as much as possible." Unexpectedly, Grandma Hawkins left no room for negotiation. Bryan felt the sky was about to collapse.
It was a whole week to endure, an entire week.
