The elders were gathered for a chat, with Carolline Ruiz looking after the two children. Madelyn Lincoln’s milk supply was insufficient; even one child wasn’t being fed to fullness, so William Hawkins simply let both children be fed with formula.
"Why isn’t there enough milk?" As a doctor, Carolline Ruiz thought that it was better for a child to be breastfed. Her own breast milk was decent when she had it, so perhaps Axel’s good health had something to do with it.
"I don’t know, the nurse came to check, and I did have the sensation of my breasts being swollen, but the children can’t suckle." Madelyn Lincoln was also quite regretful. The two children were waiting to be fed, and she really wished they could be breastfed. The books she read before childbirth all advocated breastfeeding, claiming it was good for both child and mother.
"Then let William suckle. It might be a case of blocked milk ducts, the two children are not strong enough. If that didn’t work, you could hire a prolactist to help. I’ve encountered mothers who initially had no milk supply, but after they hired a prolactist, they ended up having a great supply. Usually, blocked milk ducts have nothing to do with the amount of milk supply. If Madelyn Lincoln can feel her breasts become engorged, then that means there is milk."
Carolline Ruiz said her piece, completely oblivious to how red Madelyn Lincoln’s face had become. The idea of having the child’s father help out if the baby can’t suck out the milk, she had heard about how it had worked for others before. However, when it came to doing it herself, she felt a little embarrassed.
"Really?" Despite her embarrassment, thinking about how both children may eventually have milk to drink, she still felt very hopeful.
"Of course." Carolline Ruiz said with a smile.
