"He said he wanted to check the cafeteria, but he didn’t want those overly respectful of him or those charmed by his appearance to accompany him. Looking around, in the entire hospital, only you and I don’t care for him. So, today at noon, if not you, it would have to be me. It wouldn’t make sense to have a pregnant lady like you accompany him, right?" Carolline Ruiz explained Gary Skate’s bizarre reasoning.
"My word, if he dares, let him try asking me to accompany him." Megan Clifton angered in response. Such a peculiar reasoning, even for someone as worldly as her, was shocking.
"Mind your prenatal education." Carolline reminded her.
"...Also, you too, stop taking his words as gospel. Just because he’s the dean, doesn’t mean he can force you outside of work hours." Megan reminded her, urging her not to be overly obedient.
"..." What could Carolline say? She wanted to refuse, but she always found herself swayed back by Gary’s myriad of ridiculous reasons.
As the two walked towards the hospital, "Carolline, why do I feel like this Gary Skate is particularly targeting you? Your husband is quite powerful, why don’t you ask him to look into it?"
"Is that really necessary?" Carolline refused outright.
Moreover, she believed that she was a decent person, so in theory, she shouldn’t have offended anyone. The conflicts with Charlotte Clark were exceptions.
