What Carolline Ruiz didn’t know was that the current chaos outside her office room was due to Bryan Hawkins showing up. His reputation preceded him so far and wide that it was hard to find anyone who did not know him. As soon as he appeared in the Inpatient Department, heading straight for Carolline’s office, speculation and wild imaginations started stirring among the people outside. Moreover, Bryan’s strikingly handsome looks and his status as the wealthiest man in G City had many young nurses eager to lay their eyes upon him, curious to see if he was more charming in person or on television screens.
Some even began to wonder if the reason he sought out their head nurse immediately upon arrival implied that there was a special relationship between them.
When the elder Hawkins was hospitalized, Carolline was the only person permitted to be by his side. Plus, the old man seemed to be very fond of their head nurse. If it hadn’t been for Bryan’s declaration of being uninterested in marriage, everyone would have assumed that Carolline has already caught the elders’ fancy and was preparing to join the Hawkins Family, as Bryan’s bride.
"I already promised your uncle to stay for dinner," Bryan’s eyes dimmed a little, as if this decision might mean her denial to his invitation for the day after tomorrow.
"You could say you have other plans," Carolline suggested an excuse for him, refusing to believe that he couldn’t find a way to turn down her father.
"I’ve already told him that I’m on a long break this week, and also agreed to go fishing with him tomorrow," Bryan shrugged, indicating that it was too late to fabricate a lie now.
"..." Carolline was speechless. Standing up to leave, she found her cup of water suddenly snatched away by him," I’m going to help you refill your water; you carry on with your work."
"..." Carolline was stunned. Bryan was the president of the Hawkins Family Business, with hundreds of people attending to him at all times. She wouldn’t dare to think of him getting her filled water, it would be everybody’s dream, but no one would dare to ask it.
She dashed over to him trying to snatch her water cup back from Bryan’s hand. Her office room was a place where people would walk in at any time. She needed to dismiss him hastily to avoid unnecessary speculations, in case someone saw him there.
