Chapter 250: I’m Not Leaving (7)
Bryan quickly finished his dish, and Carolline tried to eat as much as she could. Once Carolline stopped eating, Bryan immediately had the dishes cleared and replaced with the main course.
The main course was different. Although the steak wasn’t the same as what they usually ate, it tasted excellent. Axel enjoyed his meal with his father helping to cut the steak and only needed to fork each piece to eat. Axel quickly finished his steak, leaving only the mushrooms.
Seeing this, Carolline’s eyes widened, and she frowned. It was fine that Axel had previously wasted food as he had not been exposed to it before. However, she could not understand why he would reject the mushrooms. It was simply too much.
"Axel, you need to eat the mushrooms too," Carolline said directly, not beating around the bush.
"But I don’t want to eat them, Mom," Axel pouted. He did not like the taste of these mushrooms. He preferred the stir-fried mushrooms with pork his mom made, which were much better than these.
"There’s just a little, only two bites. You can’t just not eat it because you don’t want to," Carolline insisted.
Axel made a bitter face, but eventually picked up his fork, preparing to eat the mushrooms. Before he could even start, Bryan quickly transferred all the mushrooms to his plate. Carolline raised her head, glaring at Bryan with anger.
He had gone too far. Didn’t he know she was teaching her son a lesson? Some behaviors could be tolerated, but others simply could not. By indulging Axel so much, their son would think he didn’t have to obey his mother’s rules under his father’s protection.
Bryan was not only spoiling Axel but also challenging Carolline’s authority as a mother.
More often than not, she and Axel were good friends. However, at the end of the day, they were mother and son, not purely friends. There were times when principles must be upheld and the rules of the household closely followed.
