Chapter 528 - 527: Living with a Man
On Monday morning, Yannis Griffith called again, full of concern. Hailey Griffith and Xiao Jiang also sent messages, short ones, but they warmed Cherish Turner’s heart. Every day after work, she still kept her promise, going to the apartment to clean and cook. Most of the time, William Griffith would sit on the sofa smoking, either reading the newspaper, watching TV news, or just smoking, doing nothing.
She no longer talked to him, thinking that a month would pass quickly.
They could just not talk to each other about it.
It was not until Thursday evening when Cherish, who was cooking, received a phone call. The call surprised and alarmed her. On the other end, a woman’s voice chirped, "Cherish Turner, are you staying on the top floor? I’m coming up to find you!"
"Auntie Peacock?" Cherish held her phone, shocked. What should she do? She hurried out of the kitchen and opened the apartment door.
Auntie Peacock was really Daniel Peacock’s mother; she started as a rural woman, but after Daniel Peacock became successful, she naturally enjoyed a better life and became quite smug among her relatives. Initially, she was eager for Cherish to be with her son, but later, she turned a blind eye when she sensed that her son had hooked up with a rich girl, doing nothing about her son’s marriage with Cherish.
As the door opened, Mother Peacock was already standing in the corridor. She glanced at Cherish, shoved her phone into her patent leather purse, walked towards her with her high heels on, and said, "Cherish Turner, I have something to tell you."
"Let’s talk outside!" Cherish tried to close the door hurriedly, but Mother Peacock pushed it open hard.
"We’ll talk here." Mother Peacock barged into the apartment, looked down at the men’s leather shoes in the entrance, and cried in disbelief, "Cherish Turner, are you actually living with a man?"
As the words left her mouth, a man appeared from the bathroom wearing a bathrobe.
