When the spirit sparrow saw the edge of the sea ahead, she turned sharply and slipped through the void, heading back the way she came.
Chi Buzi pursued at a steady pace, deliberately herding her eastward and never allowing her to turn back. Shaking his head, he said, "Fellow Daoist, that won't do."
He immediately drew a cauldron from his sleeve and tossed it into the air. It expanded into a massive green cauldron the size of a small house. Chanting an incantation, Chi Buzi flicked his sleeve toward it, and a clear ringing sound echoed as he intoned, "Shift the Palace of Celestial Signs, let there be rain."
The spirit artifact was itself an extension of Pristine Water. As Chi Buzi activated his divine ability, the technique Heavy Murk transformed into rolling gray mists that swept across the sky and sea, shrouding everything in gloom.
The Purple Mansion Realm spirit sparrow suddenly saw the world around her shift. Rain poured down in sheets, turning the sea and sky into a gray, seamless expanse. Fear gripped her heart, and she immediately fled into the great void.
But Chi Buzi followed close behind. After flying for some distance, the sparrow found him on her tail once more, forcing her to return to the mortal realm. Blinking rapidly, she realized that the void around her was unnaturally uniform. She could no longer tell where she was.
