Chapter 969: The Two (I)
After Li Zhouwei finished his prayer, pure light swirled around the hall. Wisps of white qi gathered within the Chongming Profound Insight Screen, and two points of white light emerged from the void, spun once, and blossomed into two white flowers that hung suspended in midair, each forming a line of golden script.
One read, Li Jiangqian. The other read, Li Shuwan.
Li Zhouwei and the others offered their thanks, then raised their brows and glanced at Li Qinghong. She appeared visibly stirred as the two white flowers drifted down gently, and she reached out to pluck them out of the air.
"Two talisman seeds... how unexpected."
The appearance of Li Jiangqian's name brought some relief, but the other name was completely unfamiliar. It left the three momentarily stunned, except for Li Xuanxuan, whose expression showed a flicker of recollection.
Li Qinghong's expression turned complicated, while Li Xuanxuan furrowed his brows, already retrieving a jade slip from his storage pouch. As an elder prone to nostalgia, he often pondered which family branches had died out and which ones needed continuation. For that reason, he kept every annual registry close at hand.
After pausing for two full seconds, a hint of satisfaction appeared on Li Xuanxuan’s face as he replied, "So it's one of my descendants... though the line is rather distant now... They've fallen to minor sect status."
He chuckled heartily, flipped the jade slip over, and handed it to the two of them. "All the better!"
Li Qinghong let out a quiet breath and took the jade slip to read. She quickly found Li Shuwan's name and traced it upward, frowning as she read aloud, "Li Yesheng... Li Xiewen... Li Pingyi... Hm? Isn’t this Uncle Xiewen’s line? Could you have mistaken it, Uncle?"
At the mention of this, a flicker of pain passed through Li Xuanxuan’s eyes. He spoke softly, "This matter... traces back to your elder brother."
