"He’s in the hospital receiving treatment. His co-worker phoned me; they said his injuries are quite serious." Worry filled the middle-aged woman’s eyes. Knowing her husband was hurt, she had brought all the family’s savings and even borrowed some from relatives, managing to gather twenty thousand yuan, but she was uncertain if that would be enough to treat Heizi’s leg.
"I’ll accompany you to the hospital once we get off the train," Song Yan Ning said. She was helping out because the woman seemed kind-hearted; otherwise, she wouldn’t normally meddle in such matters.
"That’s very kind of you, but please don’t trouble yourself," the middle-aged woman shook her head. She knew Song Yan Ning meant well, but they were strangers after all, and what was she thinking bringing a child to the hospital?
