And now, everything has changed.
After Li Boxue left, Ruan Jiaojiao didn’t pay much attention to it, went back inside to have lunch, and after lunch, she napped in the room with Yu Rou, chatting about some childhood anecdotes. As they talked, they eventually fell asleep.
The next time she woke up, it was the noise from downstairs that disturbed her.
Ruan Jiaojiao frowned, got out of bed; beside her, Yu Rou was still sound asleep. She scratched her head gently and quietly left the room.
Downstairs, in the courtyard, Ruan Jianguo and Ruan Jiandang, along with several brothers, were talking about something in hushed tones.
Meanwhile, there were also a few village officials and some villagers in the courtyard, making a lot of noise. Ruan Jiaojiao listened for a moment and vaguely heard some sensitive words, something about death and something about being bloated.
Just then, Ruanlin Family came out of the house, wearing a relatively old set of black clothes. In the courtyard, a few grandmothers of her age were urging her.
"Grandma? What’s wrong?" Seeing Ruanlin Family hurrying out, Ruan Jiaojiao stepped forward to ask.
When Ruanlin Family saw Ruan Jiaojiao, she halted her steps and turned to speak to the grandmothers in the courtyard, "You go ahead, I’ll be right there." Then she turned back to Ruan Jiaojiao and said, "Sweetheart, stay home and don’t run around. There’s been some trouble at the Li Family next door, and Grandma is going to help out. Be good and stay here with Xiaorou, don’t wander off."
After saying this, she patted Ruan Jiaojiao’s little hand and hurried after the grandmothers.
