Jiaojiao thought of this and couldn’t help but blush again.
She looked up and glanced at Duan Xi, too embarrassed to speak to him. She pursed her lips, closed the door, and walked ahead.
Duan Xi followed behind her quietly, not saying a word, his gaze lingering on her.
As they approached the corner where the stairs were, there was a sudden noise. Jiaojiao turned her head and saw Yu Rou coming out from a room.
When Yu Rou opened the door, she noticed the door opposite was ajar, with a woman standing there, sneakily peeking toward the corner of the hallway. Following her gaze, she spotted Jiaojiao and Duan Xi and immediately glared at the woman: "Who are you, sneaking around here?"
Wa Yiting had been standing by the doorway, watching Jiaojiao, and hadn’t expected the opposite door to suddenly open, giving her a scare. Her first instinct was to close the door, but the small cart at the entrance blocked her way.
"What’s up, Rourou?" asked Jiaojiao, walking over with curiosity.
Yu Rou pointed inside the door at Wa Yiting, who looked a bit pale: "This person is spying on you guys."
Jiaojiao walked up and followed her gaze. Although over a decade had passed since they’d last met, she immediately recognized the woman before her as Wa Yiting.
Wa Yiting stood awkwardly behind the door. She glanced up at Jiaojiao, then quickly lowered her head, feeling nervous. She wanted to explain that she wasn’t spying intentionally, but couldn’t get the words out.
She had long recognized the difference between herself and Jiaojiao, but facing it directly like this was still unsettling.
